At Pilates Effects we have classes designed to help each client make progress at an appropriate pace.
(0) Introduction Classes
In an intro class, instructors will take clients through Level 1 Classical Pilates movements to ensure that they have a strong foundation before moving on to other class levels. Intro classes tend to move methodically, and the instructor will provide detailed explanations and hands-on cueing.
(0.5) Intro / Beginning
Intro/Beginning classes are designed to provide beginners with a solid foundation from (0) Intro Classes while also allowing them to become familiar with terminology and concepts. Verbal cues given by the instructor help guide students through the material and ensure that they are on the right track.

(1.0) Beginning Classes
- have taken no fewer than 10 reformer classes elsewhere or
- no fewer than 3 intro reformer classes at Pilates Effects.
In a Beginning class, instructors will take clients through Level 1 Classical Pilates, plus some variations. Beginning classes will move at an easy pace, and instructors will provide verbal cues and demonstrations.
(1.5) Beginning/Intermediate Classes
Beginning/Intermediate classes are intended for clients who are familiar with, and proficient in, Level 1 movements with no less than 20 classes at Pilates Effects.
In a Beginning/Intermediate class, instructors will take clients through a mix of Level 1 and Level 2 Classical Pilates positions, plus some variations. Beginning/Intermediate classes will move at a moderate pace, and instructors will provide verbal cues and demonstrations for standard and new material.
(2.0) Intermediate
In an Intermediate class, instructors will take clients primarily through Level 2 Classical Pilates positions, plus some variations. Intermediate classes will move at a moderate to quick pace; instructors will provide limited verbal cues and will only demonstrate new material.
(2.5) Intermediate/Advanced
In an Intermediate/Advanced class, instructors will take clients through Level 2 and 3 Classical Pilates positions, plus some variations. Intermediate/Advanced classes will move at a quick pace; instructors will provide limited verbal cues and will only demonstrate new material.
(3.0) Advanced
Advanced classes are for clients who are considering taking advanced Pilates classes for more than a year. Instructors require that clients have a strong and consistent Pilates practice, and have mastered the Level 1 and 2 Pilates positions.
Advanced classes are designed to challenge clients should have a good understanding of Pilates principles and techniques.
